  Whatever others think of "the Lord* himself" , the WT designates (with a footnote) that this Lord in 1 Thes 4:16 is Jehovah.

  In broad terms, entertainment can be divided into two categories. One includes entertainment that Christians definitely avoid; the other is made up of entertainment that Christians may or may not find acceptable.

  GEEEZ what happened to good wholesome entertainment? guess JWs better play it safe and cut out all forms JUST IN CASE!

  i don't think it ever gets anywhere, i don't think it solves anything and i don't think the participants ever make any head room.

  One thing WT defenders forget is that the WT doctrine is dishonest and self-serving.

  Whether you believe in the trinity or not - why does the WT have to use unethical methods to grind it into their follower's mind?

  The "Should you believe in the trinity" brochure is full of misquotes. If I had truth on my side, why would I jeopardize another's trust by resorting to trickery and unethical behavior to get someone to agree with me?

  "Shhhhhh," St. Peter replied, "It's the Jehovah's Witnesses. They think they're the only ones here."

  PassWP: It just goes to prove they are trained to be anti-god. (in the singular) and that they believe, like other poly-theists, that there are lots Gods.

  I'd keep them away from my kids!

  This is a perfect example of one of the pitfalls of a company training all their salesmen with the same spiel.

  These JWs were very confident as the truly active, zealous ones are. Too bad they were only WT trained and not bible trained.

  A more knowledgeable and "experienced" JW would never have taken the chance of talking to someone who might be bible trained, let alone be filmed.

  They know their arguments only work on those who don't have alot of bible knowledge

  I'm not sure if the orwellinan offices of the WT are still at war with eurasia but their belief is stated plainly here:

  On the CD, (newer one 99 or 2000) taken from WT June 15, 1979 as well as the purple Interlinear:

  ***it-2 393-4 Michael***
  [Who Is Like God?]

  “……………At 1 Thessalonians 4:16 the voice of the resurrected Lord* Jesus Christ is described as being that of an archangel, suggesting that he is, in fact, himself the archangel. This text depicts HIM as descending from heaven with a commanding call……..”

  Who is HIM?
  If one checks the footnote attached to the word Lord* in this verse one sees that it is none other than Jehovah HIMself who descends.

  Using discernment with this little gem among many others, one can only test this spirit to see where it originates.

  Any thoughts? Is this a 20 yr old typo? More deception? Just one more place where they missed editing the NWT? 1st Century conspiracy? Denial? Angel worship?

  Will this debate ever be solved one way or the other?

  The whole problem with trying to fit the universal, spiritual and inspirational concepts of the bible into hard, rigid, physical boundaries of the human mind, AND claim exclusive knowledge of such, you loose the essence of the writings entirely.

  It is then impossible to look at the forest for the trees so to speak. You become locked into what we have here in this thread. Us vs Them, GOD / a god, stories to explain the inexplainable - literal white horses coming from heaven - aaaak might be ok to use for the spiritually immature, but at some point it's time to move on.

  The bible is quite clear on putting faith in the physical - it will perish - the flesh will not survive - time to embrace the spiritual side of REALITY - GOD.

  As our human race develops a collective conscience we all grow in integrity. (more Christ-like)

  The list of "developments" is staggering. Things acceptable in ancient history is no longer tolerated. And in 25 years our polluting & wasteful habits will be looked upon as barbaric and possibly even a sin!

  i'm pretty sure this is based on one of my older theories regarding satan being the true god and jehovah being the devil and writing the bible from his perspective in order to stop people from worshipping the true god satan.
